The Samsung Innovation Museum (S/I/M) has opened in Samsung Digital City, Korea. It is said to be dedicated to exploring the past, present and future of the electronics industry. The 10,950 metre-squared five-story museum is divided into three exhibition halls: The Age of Inventors, The Age of Industry Innovation and The Age of Creation.
On a related note, a few years ago I had the pleasure of visiting Samsung Digital City, amongst other absolutely fascinating technology spaces as part of the 2011 Samsung Mob!lers program. Even then, before the existence of this museum, I found it to be truly impressive but I was most astounded by SK T.um or the SK Telecoms Ubiquity Museum in Seoul. Learning of SIM reminded me of that museum, a must-see if you’re ever in that part of the world (see my video of one of the museum areas).
It’s a pity that as South Africans we have to travel that far to have a decent technology museum experience. Nonetheless, SIM is now certainly on my to-do list.
